My concentration is themed around Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland. I took a series of photos that expressed some of my favorite parts of this story. Alice in Wonderland is a creative children’s book; it was one of my favorite readings as a child. My goal was to capture the mood of the story by expressing a bit of insanity, danger, and the playfulness of childhood. I worked a lot with lighting, color, and editing pictures to tell a story by using diptychs, triptychs, or overlaying photos.
Nice range of photos this week. The second photo of the plate from extremely high up is really effective at getting the distortion of scale in sync with the story. I love your choice of blue for the color of the liquid and the burnt edges on the paper. You might want to try backlighting with the glass since the liquid is such a gorgeous color and is transparent. I like the extreme eye level on the white chess piece photo. You do lose the sense that the piece in the foreground is the queen. Do you have a chess set with more detailed pieces that could highlight the queen more? I like the composition of the card photo, but it is a little blurry. I appreciate the creativity you put into setting up your shots, especially the food and drink photos. Looking forward to your next group of photos!
